Rob Robinson

Sustainable Business Project Manager, Low Carbon Kent

Rob heads up the Low Carbon Kent team at Kent County Council. This is the business-facing arm of Sustainable Business & Communities and pulls together a range of projects and programmes which have the common aim of supporting and growing the low carbon economy across Kent, Medway and the wider South East region. As such, he has a broad knowledge of (and access to!) many business and community support opportunities including the last tranche of EU funded grants and guidance to help our firms design and carry out a range of plans for a green recovery.

The Circular Economy: Business Cases and Local Opportunities

Workshop Room B, Maidstone Hall: 10.30am - 11.00am

In this session Rob will outline the reasons why the current 'take, make & waste' approaches need to change and key opportunities to intervene on a local level. This could be realising value from using waste as a resource, co-designing solutions for repair or working with others in the community to create collaborative pockets of activity and best practice. This will use international learning from BLUEPRINT to the Circular Economy and Upcycle Your Waste to inspire through pilot examples and real life business cases.

Benefits of attending:
  • Understand the relevance of the circular economy
  • Learn more about the benefits to businesses and communities in exploring situations
  • Gain inspiration to relate the principles to your own sector and possible waste streams

ROUNDTABLE: Sustainability: Costs, Benefits and Funding Opportunities

Roundtable Room, Maidstone Hall: 11.30am - 12.00pm

Discover what common (and some innovative!) actions businesses in the region are taking plus how support programmes like Low Carbon Across the South & East (LoCASE) are helping identify and fund them. We will link real life 'local' examples to key themes; including rising energy and raw material costs, developing trends in Net Zero planning, supply chain engagement, legislative changes and opportunities in adopting circular economy business cases.

This will pull together learning from the portfolio of projects Low Carbon Kent continues to deliver to help our transition to a low carbon economy. We are entering the last 6 months of EU funded support across the board, here's our chance as a region to invest, collaborate and share best practice.

Benefits of attending:
  • Opportunity to share and learn from project examples across a variety of sectors
  • Learn about the range of support and funding still available to help identify viable opportunities
  • Help outline business cases for supporting a range of 'sustainable' interventions.
